Silver & Hanne Rivrud introduce an avatar, the typicalgraphic representative of a real person in the virtual world, into the authentic public sphere. Via a cellphone’s command keys, the user can issue all kinds of orders to an initially unidentifiable action figure. But there’s a nasty wakeup call awaiting at the end, when the display shows the amount of CO2 emissions that were caused by the interaction.
The artists duo uses the transdisciplinary context of "Overtures" for an interactive experience to provoke people into action and to investigate how we act as we are controlled by algorithms run by simulation systems.
