Water – for how long has it been wasted regardless of how limited the supplies are!
Due to the strong global growth we are running short of this vital resource, a symptom of the worldwide crisis coming to the fore fast. Comprising the early signals, already back in 2000 the art forum artcircolo started with the project series OVERTURES a research program about understanding future problems concerning water. Right from the beginning OVERTURES aimed at a new form of collaboration between artists, curators, technologists, scientists, and experts in media and economy.
From the foreseeable possible scenarios, deriving from the consequences of past but mainly present and future actions, OVERTURES offers new perspectives and action models to society.
Working closely with interdisciplinary partners, artists develop projects using many kinds of media, and reflecting upon the resource of water and its radically altered significance. The artworks comment and question the impact of the dramatic climate changes and our way of life on our water reserves, and our environment and society in general.
